# SheetDB

> SheetDB turns a Google Sheet into a JSON REST API. Sign in with Google, paste a spreadsheet URL and get an endpoint that reads, searches, adds, updates and deletes rows over HTTP, with no Google Cloud project, no OAuth code and built-in caching. Free plan available, no credit card required.

Key facts:

- Each API is bound to one Google spreadsheet; the first row is the header and every other row is returned as a JSON object keyed by the header names, e.g. `GET https://sheetdb.io/api/v1/58f61be4dda40` returns `[{"id":"1","name":"Tom","age":"15","comment":""}, ...]` (a public demo API).
- Endpoints: `GET /api/v1/{id}` (read), `GET /search` and `/search_or` (filter with comparisons like `age=>18`, wildcards `*` and negation), `POST` (add rows), `PATCH`/`PUT /{column}/{value}` (update), `DELETE /{column}/{value}` (delete), plus batch update, JSON import, CSV export and tab management.
- Security is optional and per API: Bearer token or HTTP Basic auth, per-method permissions (read/create/update/delete), CORS origin restriction and IP whitelist.
- Read responses are cached for 15 seconds by default; the duration is configurable and the cache can be purged.
- SheetDB calls the official Google Sheets API on the user's behalf; cached reads do not reach Google, which keeps sites within Google's per-minute quotas.
- Plans are billed by monthly requests and number of APIs:
  - Free: free forever, 2 APIs, 500 requests/month.
  - Basic: $29.99/month ($25.49/month billed yearly), 5 APIs, 10,000 requests/month.
  - Premium: $49.99/month ($42.49/month billed yearly), 20 APIs, 50,000 requests/month.
  - Business: $129.99/month ($110.49/month billed yearly), 50 APIs, 500,000 requests/month.
  - Enterprise: $399.99/month and up, unlimited APIs, unlimited requests/month.
- Works from any language or tool that sends HTTP requests: JavaScript, PHP, Node.js, Python, WordPress (free plugin), Bubble, Adalo, n8n, Make, other no-code tools with an HTTP step, and plain HTML forms.
